While eBay is a fantastic complement to any online business, you don't actually need a pre-existing business to make money on eBay. In fact, thousands of regular folks all over the world are pulling in part-time or full-time incomes just by selling a variety of products on eBay auctions! Many of these budding entrepreneurs started off by selling stuff they already owned - things they no longer used such as attic clutter, old music albums, wedding dresses and what not.
It didn't stop there though. They got hooked on the thrill and suspense of a busy auction and soon found themselves checking out jumble sales and flea markets, in the hope that they would stumble across something that could be sold online. They were delighted that it was so simple to make money on the internet without having to invest too much of time and effort!
And before long, they were generating enough profits with their eBay auctions to quit their jobs or work only part-time hours. In fact, it's been stated that nearly 430,000 people in the United States earn their living by auctioning off items on eBay!
Now when you're starting out, it might be a good idea to sell a product you own. This way, you can test the waters and learn the ropes of this business without needing to shell out cash on merchandise. Besides, there's every chance you'll make money going the auction route, than you would at a garage sale. Once you've successfully sold off a few products, you'll grow in confidence - you may then check out other venues for ultra cheap items that you can sell for a sizable profit on eBay.
You can:-
* Look around for collectibles at estate sales and flea markets
* Sell articles that might not do so well in your local area, or that you can sell for a higher sum to interested parties from other areas. For instance, the market for your item could well be saturated in your locality, but wide open outside of it.
* Browse through completed listings on eBay to find out what is popular; then look for the same stuff at thrift stores at yard sales. Or, you could locate a trustworthy wholesaler who may be able to supply them to you at a very low cost.
* Here's another way to make money - purchase products offered in bulk on eBay and re-sell them in separate auctions for a nice chunk of profit.
* Hunt for novel articles on lesser-known auction sites (such as Amazon Auctions and Yahoo! Auctions) that are selling fast for lower prices than they are on eBay. Go ahead and snap up these items for cheap...then turn around and sell them on eBay at a higher price.
Did you know?
You can really capitalize on the latest 'fads.' Remember the 'Beanie Baby' phenomenon? Folks went crazy and bid thousands of dollars on them. Now it would be rather difficult to create a website and then try and generate targeted traffic around a fad item - by the time you've got everything set up, the fad might be yesterday's news! However, eBay provides you with an easy opportunity to make money by giving you an instant 'ready-to-buy' audience at a super low price. So if you spot a rising trend, you can ride the wave as quickly as possible!
